Alex Fergnani, Ph.D., is a globally recognized scholar and thought leader in strategic foresight and corporate futures, currently serving as Associate Professor of Strategy at the Asian Institute of Management and Fetzer Scholar at the Academy of Management.  Alex earned his doctorate in Management & Organization (with a specialization in corporate foresight) from the National University of Singapore, where he was honored with a prestigious President’s Fellowship.  His earlier academic journey includes a Master’s in Futures Studies from Tamkang University in Taipei and a Bachelor’s in Asian Languages, Markets & Cultures from the University of Bologna.

Alex combines rigorous academic research with high‑impact executive education.  He serves as Associate Editor at World Futures Review, and is an Honorary Research Fellow at Strathclyde Business School. As a visiting scholar at the Houston Foresight Program during his Ph.D., he developed the “State of Foresight” initiative, exploring how foresight is applied in corporate settings.

His empirical and theoretical work has been widely published in top-tier journals including Academy of Management Perspectives, Harvard Business Review, European Business Review, Futures, Futures & Foresight Science, Foresight, and World Futures Review.  Noteworthy papers include “Metamodern Futures: Prescriptions for Metamodern Foresight” (2023), “Corporate Foresight: A New Frontier for Strategy and Management”, and advances in scenario planning methodologies such as the “six scenario archetypes” and “mission‑oriented scenarios”.

On the public speaking front, Alex is frequently invited to deliver workshops and keynote addresses worldwide, covering topics like scenario planning, foresight methodologies, strategic management, metamodernism, and philosophy of science.  He’s also a well‑represented voice in media: a prolific contributor on Medium, host of insightful YouTube content, and featured guest on podcasts such as FuturePod, where he discusses foresight in cultural and organizational contexts.

A scholar-practitioner at heart, Alex acts as a foresight consultant and trainer, advising public and private organizations on building future-ready capabilities. His work bridges academia and industry, translating empirical findings into practical processes: environmental scanning, scenario development, and strategic translation.

With over 700 citations on Google Scholar, spanning scenario planning, corporate foresight, and metamodernism, Alex’s intellectual impact continues to grow globally.  His latest book, published by Penguin Random house, is “The Dao of Foresight.”
